This is a fantastic hotel to stay in, it is located up in the hills about a 10 min shuttle bus ride away from Gora in a very picturesque location. Reading the reviews prior to coming here was a little apprehensive however since staying there can understand some perspective, which may help others before booking: 1. If you are looking for a hotel amongst the shops, or access to a heap of fun activities for young kids or within walking distance to local spots etc, this hotel may not be for you. The hotel is centred more around relaxation and providing some space particularly if you are on holidays and have been in Kyoto or Tokyo and just want a 2-3 days to just get away to a quite location is the more ideal setting. 2. The staff will make this clear upon checkin (and there are signs up as well). Taxi accessibility (understandable so given the location) can take time, particularly in peak seasons. Upon arrival (even maybe a day before) let them know your travel/taxi requirements so the staff can prearrange taxis etc. The staff are excellent and will prearrange everything just don't turn up at the front desk and ask for taxi and expect one to be there within 10 mins. For example we went out for dinner at another restaurant offsite from this hotel and asked for a taxi back to our hotel upon finishing our meal. We were told initially it would take an hour. However the people at the restaurant were kind enough to contact this hotel who then rang around for us and managed to find a taxi for us within 20 mins. Hire a car if you are looking to have more freedom here. 3. The restaurant food is limited however the food is fantastic, the salad bar is organic and fresh and the dishes served and drinks served are beautiful. If however you are choosing to stay at the hotel more than 3 days (and eat only at the hotel) I could understand some who be frustrated by the lack of choice. Outside of the above, this place is awesome for a short break away!!!

The location of Nol Hakone Myojindai is both its greatest strength and a notable weakness. Situated in a lush, green environment, the hotel offers a peaceful haven with a modern, zen-like atmosphere. The rooms are quiet, clean, spacious, and feature tasteful, modern decor with views of the surrounding forests. However, the hotel's remote location presents some challenges: - The hotel shuttle to Gora station (a gateway to Hakone's attractions) requires reservations and has limited availability, with only a few trips in the early morning and late afternoon. Without a reservation, the journey to Gora is a 45-minute walk, which can constrain your daily plans. - The hotel's restaurant is expensive (though we didn't dine there), and alternative dining options require a 20-minute walk downhill, with an uphill return. There are a few restaurants nearby, including a notable burger spot. - Breakfast is good but lacks variety. You can choose between eggs or a pancake, accompanied by mostly vegetable sides. There is a buffet, but it resembles more of a salad bar. Overall, the hotel provides a serene and clean environment, perfect for relaxation. However, the limited dining options and infrequent shuttle service are points to consider.

It was the best night ever! I’m visiting Japan for 2 weeks only so I have only booked one night! I never wanted to leave! Everything was well taken care of! The staff were amazing and they made you feel like home! I was reluctant to book the dinner because it was specified it was Italian style, however, I couldn’t be happier I actually had my dinner there! I would specifically recommend the spaghetti with Japanese clams and bamboo! This dish was mind blowing! It was Italian but with a creative Japanese twist that made each dish unique and delicious! The staff was always there to help but also you had your privacy! It is up in the mountains and very private which is what I was looking for! I had a room with a private onsen and it was simply amazing! I would highly recommend booking a room here! I was actually walking up the mountain from the bus stop and one of the hotel staff saw me on the road with my luggage and stopped his car and helped me get there the rest of the way! He was so mind and thoughtful, and I will remember this forever! They go above and beyond for their guests and I can’t wait to go there again on my next Japan visit!

By far our favourite part of our Japan trip! We stayed here one night to rest in between cities and it was a fantastic choice. The shared onsen is stunning in the early morning with the sunrays shining through the trees and illuminating the steam from the hot water...it really was a dreamy experience. We chose a room without a private onsen and it was a great choice for us. We had a lovely view of the hills and the room was fairly quiet. Absolutely loved having the lounge wear to wear throughout the resort. It meant we could wash the clothes we had come in and just fully relax. The beds were comfy, the room was clean and spacious. It was nice sitting by the firepit with a hot chocolate in our nol cups. The breakfast was lovely and really plentiful. We were very lucky with the weather, which I'm sure made the experience better, but even still, it's such a nice place to relax.

The heated pool and sauna were great. It was relaxing. Complimentary herbal water, tea and coffee were conveniently available in the lounge. I also appreciated the gift of the original bottle. The hot spring bath set up on the balcony of the room was great, but I was concerned that the balcony fence was too low and would be visible from the outside. Please note that you need to make a reservation for dinner at least one day in advance and that the starting time of dinner is fixed in two parts. The only food available at the hotel is Western food, so if you want Japanese food, you will need to go elsewhere.
